The Risk

I’ve haven’t had my share of persecution in life.

I had a bit in grade school. Being made fun of for being different. Nothing unusual, but still extremely hurtful.

But then my parents pulled me out of school and I was left in safety for many years within my faith and homeschooling community. I was still made fun of, but it wasn’t anything anyone else hasn’t experienced in life. I can’t say I was innocent in throwing it back in their faces on occasion.

But really…I haven’t been persecuted. Not to my fair share. My life has been easy. Living my faith has come easy. Many people love me and accept me with all my many quirks and unique different-ness. I compare my life to others, and all I can think is that I’ve had it easy and dread the time when it will be my time.

But I’m getting a taste of it right now. And it makes not a difference to me if I’m in the right or wrong. I’m standing behind someone. I’m standing up for someone. They could very likely hurt me, but I would much rather be hurt because I’ve seen the good in someone and I’ve supported them. Standing up to people who don’t see the good in them.

One day, maybe, someone will see and stand up for the good in me. And even if that doesn’t happen, I know that I have believed in a soul and sacrificed for it.

I won’t lie…I’m afraid that I’ll get hurt. But I must be brave. I must have hope and faith in what God can do in our person’s soul if I allow him to work through me.
“Be wise enough not to be reckless, but brave enough to take great risks.”
I’m taking that risk.

Patchwork

To quilt or not to quilt…

For some odd reason I really really want to make a patchwork quilt.

Mainly because I’ve seen some utterly gorgeous ones recently and they look fairly easy to make.

I also have this fetish for blankets, throw blankets. I like them, a lot. I get cold often, and having a comfy, adorable, warm blanket is like a slice of heaven (without the calories of cheesecake, chocolate, or ice cream). And the one that my grandma made that I have used for many years is literally falling apart at the seams.

So for the record: my goal this winter is to make a patchwork quilt.

I’m thinking a black, white, and teal colour scheme as it’s my absolute favorite (as anyone who sees my bedroom would know, lol)

Its time for me to get creative again and let loose my inner artist!

Should Have Known

I should have known better.

It’s such a melancholic statement to give excuse for something that has been that we wish to the heavens that had not.

It’s a statement to admit that we were wrong, and we were wrong to be wrong.

But most of it, it’s admitting that we knew we had another choice when we made the choice that we made. The choice that we knew we shouldn’t have made.

All this is to say…I’m feeling vague.

I want yet again what I can’t have.

I should have known better…but isn’t the best life lived in making mistakes and learning from them? I like to think that without great desires in our lives, nothing would get done, even if those desires are misshapen.

So I look at myself in the mirror and tell me I am very very silly. Very very silly. And that again I’m in the same little mess that I always get into. AND I’m going to be alright…I’m just going to keep trying to get out of the mire and God willing, one day, I’ll look back at this huge muddy patch and say:

“Silly girl, silly silly girl. Good thing you are smarter now!”

Then I shall grin at my old foolishness, remember in quick session snippets of my past life, and skip into my future filled with wise and prudent actions.

Ha.

I do know better ;)
